What if I am a victim of domestic violence?

Domestic violence is a growing problem on Long Island and around the world. All too often, instances of domestic abuse, spousal abuse, family violence and battering go unreported due to fear, embarrassment, or other complex issues. Domestic abuse can take many forms and does not always include physical abuse. Domestic violence can include psychological and emotional abuse, controlling or domineering behavior, intimidation, stalking, intimidation or even neglect. It doesn’t have to, and shouldn’t, be this way. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, you need to get help right away. You don’t have to face this alone.
